The Corn Barn is a beautiful building, full of character and rustic resplendence, set in a secluded spot in the idyllic Devon countryside. A beautiful blank canvas to make your own. Easily accessible (we are just 5 minutes from the M5, yet deep in the Devon countryside) and with plenty of parking, the barn sits serenely in it’s own south-facing courtyard. Guests are able to mingle freely between each area of the barn and out in to the landscaped courtyard, creating a relaxed and sociable ambience perfect for any occasion or event.
Flooding the barn with natural light, large picture windows overlook our delightful south-facing courtyard, and for the colder months underfloor heating and wood burning stoves keep our guests cosy and warm. We have easy access for disabled, with a ramp and a chairlift. The Corn Barn oozes natural charm and it’s unique atmosphere never fails to make an impression on those who visit. The tranquillity of the main barn is impressive and leads many couples choose to conduct their wedding ceremony here, frequently exchanging vows under the gaze of the restored 17th century window in the raised area at the far end of the barn.
With it’s integrated sound system and raised area that is perfect for use as a dancefloor or a stage, the main barn is also the ideal space for holding all types of events, from wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations, to birthday parties and business events and meetings.
When hosting a wedding or celebration, we find that this is the most popular place for evening guests to congregate – easily making their way between the Linhay bar and the dancefloor, out in to the courtyard or catching up with family and friends around the table.
For business and meetings, the calm ambience and idyllic rural surrounds naturally lend themselves to creating the ideal environment for team building, productive learning and creative dialogue.

Originally, the Linhay would have been used for housing cattle and feed but has since been transformed in to the most splendid welcoming space for guests.

Guests are able to relax and catch up over a drink or two as they prepare for the event or get set to celebrate!

A superb balcony area, situated upstairs in the main barn, this is the perfect place to kick back and relax in the comfortable seating – it’s even sometimes used for wedding ceremonies.
Great for photography, this space is also ideal for musicians, singers and speakers during a wedding or event in the main barn, allowing maximum space and circulation for guests below.

Abundant with wildlife, our orchard boasts 40 acres of cider fruit which we grow under contract for Thatcher’s Cider – we have it on tap in the bar for those that enjoy a tipple! We grow a number of different varieties, giving an array of colours in the autumn and the benefit of a spread harvest season.
The orchard is also home to our ‘Little Barn’, a fairytale setting for an alfresco wedding ceremony and the perfect natural backdrop for photographs.
In spring, the fragrant blossom looks simply stunning, whereas in the summer, the orchard is brimming with rich green foliage providing some cooler, dappled shade.
In the autumn, the apples are looking juicy and ripe and the winter, the shapes and outlines of the silhouetted trees add to the landscape around.
The perfect leafy loveliness to complement the rustic splendour of the barn.
Tucked away at end of the Linhay, you’ll find The Annexe, a charming private room with a kitchenette, bathroom and sitting area that is suitable for a variety of uses.
Usually the place used for preparation, whether for a wedding, a celebration or other events, it is also a quiet place for the youngest of guests to have nap or for maybe for a guest seeking some peace and quiet!
It is yours to use, completely at your disposal, for the duration your day at The Corn Barn.
Farming and nature is woven in to the fabric of our Batchelor family life and we have been running our small mixed farm for many years in and environmentally friendly way. Rotating grass and cereal crops with our grazing livestock promoting healthy soils for plants and animals
Our sheep provided the wool for the main barn curtains and the apples grown in our cider orchard are used in the production of Thatcher’s cider. Prunings from the orchard also provide fuel for heating the barns in the colder months (and a little sustenance for insects and other wildlife too!).
With the help of our children we continue to run the farm alongside events at The Corn Barn. You can even grab a pint of Thatcher’s at The Corn Barn bar and taste some of the Batchelor family produce for yourself!
